Welcome!

I am Yishuang (Athena) Li, a Ph.D. Candidate in Politics at New York University. My research focuses on international political economy, comparative politics, judicial politics, and Chinese Politics. My dissertation book project examines reforms in judicial institutions, in particular, the consequences of judicial recentralization on the autonomy of courts, local protectionism, investment, property rights, and public perception in China. My other research projects aim to understand diplomatic performance and the selection of ambassadors, the central-local relations, and local government financing vehicles in comparative perspectives.

I was born in Beijing, China. Before entering NYU, I received my Bachelor of Science in Global China Studies from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, with a research concentration on Politics.
